Hotel Openings: One& Only One Za’abeel, The Lana

Check out this stunning 3D light projection to announce the opening of One&Only One Za’abeel. Dubai does these displays so well, and lighting up the Burj Khalifa is a bit routine these days - but this is lovely.

The projection broke 3 Guinness World Records, including:-

• The largest mesh screen projection in the world

• The longest projection mapping in the world

• The largest architectural temporary projection mapping in the world

The Link is perhaps the feature where the buzz is, given it’s now the longest infinity pool in the UAE (what is it with all these infinity pool records these days?) along with some of the lifestyle outlets planned for it.

One Za’abeel also threw a glitzy celeb-strewn party to be had. J-Lo and Nancy Ajram, Idris Elba and numerous others seemed to have a hooley.

Located on Marasi Drive, which is across the canal from Downtown, every room has a balcony and it offers flexible check-in and check-out times.

Hotel Openings: Anantara Santorini Abu Dhabi Retreat

Quick heads up for Anantara Santorini Abu Dhabi Retreat. Whilst Dubai is generally our main focus, it’s worth mentioning this because it’s a highly-anticipated property.

Anantara Santorini Abu Dhabi Retreat is officially opening next week, although 'opening' in local terms is always fluid - as it's possible to book this week. But bear mind mind, they're still doing all the the 'soft opening' (or soft-soft) as well as the usual associated works.

It's located just south of the inlet (the other side from Al Jazira Resort) and Ghantout/Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club.

To give an idea of relative location, it's about 35 km 'down the road' from JA Resort, or around 50km from south part of Dubai Marina. So Other than the desert resorts, it's arguably one of the most outlying locations you could be away from the 'cities'. ‘Retreat’ is a fitting name 😃 

Top tip - there's a selling out shop called Windmill Cellar on the island just off the E11 that could be worth popping into for libations. 🍻
